Ms. Longbrake

Welcome Parents and Students!

I am Ms. Longbrake, a native of Colonial Beach. I completed my education at Colonial Beach High School in 2004, alongside a fantastic group of classmates. I started my career as a paraprofessional, which I did for 8 years, before transitioning to a K-8 Title I teacher for a year and a half. In December 2013, I began my journey as a middle school math teacher, teaching 6th - 8th grade math. Teaching has always been my childhood dream.

I completed my Associates of Arts in Business Management and Bachelor’s of Science in Health Administration at University of Phoenix Online. Initially, I pursued a career in healthcare, but after working as a paraprofessional, I realized my passion for teaching. Following the completion of my degrees, I went back to school to fulfill the additional credits required by the Virginia Department of Education to become a certified math teacher. After completing numerous math and educational courses, I am now a certified middle school math teacher at a wonderful school with exceptional students. Additionally, I obtained a Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in interdisciplinary mathematics and science leadership/K-8 mathematics. I am a math specialist.

I am the proud parent of a wonderful 14-year-old son named Kenny, who is starting 10th grade. He is the older brother to Keegan, who will be turning 6 in August and starting kindergarten. During my free time, I cherish moments with my fiancĂ© Kenny, and our amazing boys. Cooking and fishing are my favorite hobbies.  I prioritize my family above all else. I am excited about collaborating with all of you this year. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. Effective communication between parents and teachers is key.
