Mrs. Sylvia Bella, MA

School Counselor K-12

I’ve been a professional School Counselor since 2019 and I have LOVED every minute of helping my students and families. I am so happy to be at Colonial Beach Elementary and I am looking forward to getting to know my students.

I attended Chatham College for my B.A in Psychology and Slippery Rock University for my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, concentrating on School Counseling K-12.

I believe in maintaining a positive mindset, creating partnerships with a purpose, and always striving for significant outcomes. I believe all student deserve to be treated with respect and kindness.

I will be teaching weekly classroom lessons for grades 4 and 5 and monthly lessons for grades 6&7. Each month will have a theme.

August- Meet the counselor
September - Identifying and managing feelings
October - Heathy choices and decision making
November - Growth mindset
December - Career exploration and goal setting
January -  Bullying
February - Friendship skills and conflict resolution
March - Diversity, respect, and character
April - Self-esteem and test taking skills

I will also be providing individual and small group counseling.

Small Group Counseling
A variety of small groups are offered to students who might benefit from further development of personal, social, emotional, and academic skills or who might be coping with similar life situations.  Groups meeting during regular school hours for 30 minutes, once a week for several weeks.

Individual Counseling
Students can meet with me individual regarding personal concerns or challenges.  Students may be referred to the school counselor by peers, parents/guardians, teachers, school staff, a community agency, or can complete a self-referral form here at school.
