Ms. Longbrake

Welcome Parents and Students!

My name is Ms. Longbrake. I am a Colonial Beach native. I graduated from Colonial Beach High School with a wonderful group of classmates in 2004.I began working as a paraprofessional which lasted for 8 years, and then I became a K-8 Title I teacher for a year and a half. In December of 2013, I began my career path as the middle school math teacher, teaching 6th - 8th grade math. As a child I always dreamed of becoming a teacher.

I attended University of Phoenix Online to obtain my Associates of Arts in Business Management and Bachelor’s of Science in Health Administration. Upon entering the degree path I thought that healthcare was for me. I was wrong! After working as a paraprofessional for so long I knew teaching was right for me. Upon completion of my associates and bachelor’s degrees I decided to go back to school and earn additional credits required by the Virginia Department of Education to become a certified math teacher in Virginia. After what seemed like a million math and education courses here I am now with an endorsement in middle school math teaching at an amazing school with amazing students. I am currently enrolled at VCU working towards earning my Masters Degree. Upon completion I will hold an Interdisciplinary Studies, Masters Degree, with a concentration in interdisciplinary mathematics and science leadership/K-8 mathematics specialist. I will be finished in the summer of 2023.

I have an amazing 14 year old son Kenny who is entering 8th grade this year. He is the big brother to Keegan who will turn 4 in August and will begin Pre-K this year. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my fiancé who was my high school sweetheart and our children. I also enjoy cooking. I am very family orientated and love my family very much.

I look forward to working with each of you this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. The best communication is parent-teacher communication.
